seaway
Ocean vessel route
A seaway is a route for ocean travel, or a channel deep enough for large vessels.
Often capitalized, it refers specifically to the St.
Lawrence Seaway connecting the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean: Ships pass through the Seaway carrying grain and iron ore.
A seaway can also mean the motion of a ship through waves, or rough sea conditions generally.
