last-mile
Journey's closing stretch
Last-mile describes the final leg of a journey or delivery—the stretch from a distribution point to the end user.
In telecommunications, it's the connection from a local exchange to a home or business.
In logistics, last-mile delivery is notoriously inefficient: Last-mile costs eat into our margins.
The term acknowledges that reaching the final destination often poses the greatest challenge.
