jumping the queue

Butting in line

Jumping the queue is pushing ahead of others who are waiting their turn—the British equivalent of cutting in line.

The phrase extends to any situation where someone bypasses an established order: Wealthy donors jump the queue for organ transplants.

Queue-jumping is the noun form.
