pigtail
Schoolgirl's side braid
A pigtail is a braid or束 of hair hanging from the head.
In American usage, pigtails usually means two braids or ponytails, one on each side: She wore her hair in pigtails.
British usage may refer to a single braid.
The word extends to anything twisted or coiled like a braid: a pigtail connector in electrical work, or the curly tail of a pig itself.
