security checkpoint
Traveler inspection point
A security checkpoint is a controlled point where people, vehicles, or belongings are inspected before proceeding—at airports, border crossings, government buildings, or event venues.
Guards may check identification, search bags, or use screening equipment: We arrived early to allow time for the security checkpoint.
The term also applies to military roadblocks in conflict zones.
