queues
Ordered waiting lines
Queues are lines of people or things waiting their turn.
The word is more common in British than American English, where *line* dominates: The queues at the post office were terrible.
In computing, a queue is a data structure where items are processed in the order they arrived—first in, first out.
The verb means to wait in line or to add items to such a sequence: We queued for tickets.
