FIFO

Oldest leaves first

FIFO stands for "first in, first out"—a method where the oldest items are used or sold before newer ones.

In inventory management, FIFO assumes goods are sold in the order acquired: Under FIFO accounting, those older units cost less.

In computing, FIFO describes queues where data is processed in arrival order.

The opposite is LIFO (last in, first out).
