pores
Tiny skin openings
Pores are tiny openings in a surface that allow passage of liquids or gases.
Skin pores release sweat and oil; porous materials like sponges absorb water through countless pores.
To pore over something is to study it intently: She pored over the documents for hours.
This verb pore is unrelated to the noun—the spelling pour is a common error.
