The most frequent use of minute by far is the noun, denoting a 60th of an hour, and by extension, a short amount of time: give me a minute, wait a minute.

A minute is also a 60th part of a degree in geometric measurement.

The plural minutes frequently denotes the official record of the proceedings of a meeting: He seconded the motion to accept the minutes of the last meeting.

The adjective minute (second syllable stressed) expresses the concept of very small: The prices were ridiculous and the portions minute.
