mood rings
Color-changing bands
Mood rings are novelty jewelry from the 1970s containing thermochromic liquid crystals that change color in response to body temperature.
The colors supposedly indicate the wearer's emotional state—blue for calm, black for stressed, green for average.
The science is real (temperature does shift the crystals), but the mood correlation is pure marketing: My mood ring turned black during the exam.
