jumping jacks

Arms-and-legs cardio

Jumping jacks are a calisthenic exercise performed by jumping to spread the legs wide while raising the arms overhead, then jumping back to standing position with arms at the sides.

The movement repeats rhythmically: We did fifty jumping jacks to warm up.

Common in gym classes and military training as cardiovascular conditioning.
