Brine after bourbon
A pickleback is a shot of whiskey followed immediately by a shot of pickle brine, the salty-sour chaser cutting the burn of the liquor.
The combination originated in American dive bars in the early 2000s and became a popular order: Let's do picklebacks.
The term sometimes refers just to the brine chaser itself.
