long drink
Diluted cocktail serving
A long drink is a mixed alcoholic beverage served in a tall glass with a generous proportion of non-alcoholic mixer—typically juice, soda, or tonic water.
The term contrasts with short drinks like shots or neat spirits.
Long drinks are meant to be sipped over time rather than consumed quickly: a gin and tonic, a rum and Coke, a vodka cranberry.
