mint julep
Bourbon with herb
A mint julep is a cocktail of bourbon, sugar, and fresh mint served over crushed ice, traditionally in a silver or pewter cup.
The drink is strongly associated with the American South, particularly Kentucky and the Kentucky Derby: We sipped mint juleps on the veranda.
The crushed ice and metal cup create a distinctive frost on the outside.
