osteomas

Benign skeletal tumors

Osteomas are benign bone tumors—slow-growing, noncancerous masses of bone tissue.

They typically appear on the skull or facial bones and often cause no symptoms, discovered incidentally on X-rays.

When they do cause problems, it's usually from pressing on nearby structures: The osteomas were compressing her sinuses.

Singular: osteoma.
