calvaria
Cranial vault top
The calvaria is the dome-shaped upper portion of the skull that encloses and protects the brain—essentially the skullcap.
In anatomy, it refers specifically to the roof of the cranium, excluding the facial bones and skull base.
The term appears in medical and forensic contexts: The calvaria showed no signs of trauma.
