hemangiomas

Benign blood growths

Hemangiomas is the plural of hemangioma, a benign tumor made up of blood vessels.

These growths appear most often in infants as red or purple birthmarks on the skin, commonly called strawberry marks.

Most hemangiomas shrink and fade on their own during childhood: The pediatrician said the hemangioma would likely disappear by age five.
