jaw
Teeth's bony anchor
The jaw is the bony framework of the mouth—the upper and lower structures that hold the teeth and enable chewing.
The lower jaw moves; the upper doesn't.
Jaws extend to mechanical devices that grip: the jaws of a vise, the jaws of pliers.
To jaw is to talk at length, often tediously: They jawed for hours about nothing.
To jaw at someone is to lecture or scold them.
