radiopaque

Blocks imaging beams

Radiopaque describes materials that block X-rays and other radiation, appearing white or light on radiographic images.

Bones are naturally radiopaque; contrast dyes are injected to make soft tissues radiopaque for imaging.

The opposite is radiolucent, which allows radiation to pass through.

The radiopaque marker showed exactly where the catheter was positioned.
