diplopia

Seeing two images

Diplopia is the medical term for double vision—seeing two images of a single object.

The condition may result from eye muscle problems, nerve damage, or neurological disorders.

One image is typically displaced horizontally, vertically, or diagonally from the other: The patient complained of diplopia after the head injury.
