Nutritional yeast is a deactivated yeast sold as flakes or powder, popular in vegetarian and vegan cooking for its savory, slightly cheesy flavor.
It's often sprinkled on popcorn, pasta, or salads: I put nutritional yeast on everything.
Unlike active yeast, it won't make bread rise.
