monohulls
Single-hulled sailing vessels
Monohulls are boats or ships with a single hull, as opposed to catamarans (two hulls) or trimarans (three).
The term appears most often in sailing contexts, where monohull design affects stability, speed, and handling: She prefers racing monohulls to multihulls.
Most traditional sailboats and virtually all large ships are monohulls.
