microscope slide

Transparent sample platform

A microscope slide is a thin, flat piece of glass or plastic used to hold specimens for examination under a microscope.

The sample is typically placed on the slide and covered with a thinner coverslip.

Slides may be prepared fresh or preserved for later study: The biology students prepared slides of onion cells.
