soda-lime

Carbon dioxide scrubber

Soda-lime is a mixture of calcium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide, used to absorb carbon dioxide and water vapor.

It appears in closed breathing systems like anesthesia machines and rebreathers, where exhaled CO₂ must be removed: The anesthesiologist checked the soda-lime canister between cases.

In chemistry, soda-lime glass is the most common type, used for windows and bottles.
