marmalade
Bitter orange preserves
Marmalade is a preserve made from citrus fruit, distinguished from jam by the inclusion of peel cut into strips or chunks suspended in the jelly.
Orange marmalade is the classic variety, though lemon, lime, and grapefruit versions exist.
The bittersweet flavor comes from the peel: He spread thick marmalade on his toast.
