pomelo

Giant Asian citrus

A pomelo is the largest citrus fruit, native to Southeast Asia, with thick rind and flesh ranging from pale yellow to pink.

It resembles a grapefruit but is sweeter and less bitter: We peeled the pomelo and separated its segments.

The fruit is traditional in Chinese New Year celebrations.

Also spelled pummelo.
