lifeform

Any living creature

A lifeform is any living organism—from bacteria to blue whales, from fungi to humans.

The term appears most often in scientific and science-fiction contexts, where it encompasses forms of life that might differ radically from familiar biology: The probe detected no lifeforms on the planet's surface.

Also spelled as two words: life form.
