Area 51
Classified desert base
Area 51 is a highly classified U.S.
Air Force facility in the Nevada desert, long associated with conspiracy theories about UFOs and extraterrestrial technology.
The secrecy surrounding the base—used for testing experimental aircraft—has made it a cultural touchstone for alien speculation: They're hiding the real evidence at Area 51.
The name comes from its designation on old government maps.
