human migration
People changing homelands
Human migration is the movement of people from one place to another, typically across significant distances and often with the intention of settling permanently or for extended periods.
Migration may be voluntary—for economic opportunity, family reunification, or better living conditions—or forced by war, persecution, famine, or environmental disaster.
The human migration out of Africa shaped the peopling of every continent.
The term encompasses immigration (arriving) and emigration (leaving), as well as internal movement within countries.
