saber-tooth cat
Ice Age predator
A saber-tooth cat is any of several extinct wild cats characterized by enormously elongated upper canine teeth.
The most famous, Smilodon, roamed the Americas until about 10,000 years ago.
Despite the name, they were not closely related to modern tigers.
Also called saber-toothed cat or saber-toothed tiger.
