ger

Nomad's portable home

A ger is a traditional Mongolian dwelling—a portable, round tent with a wooden frame covered in felt, designed for the nomadic life of the Central Asian steppes.

The word is the Mongolian equivalent of what English speakers often call a yurt (from the Turkic languages).

We stayed in a ger camp outside Ulaanbaatar.
