hemorrhagic stroke
Ruptured cerebral vessel
A hemorrhagic stroke occurs when a blood vessel in the brain ruptures and bleeds into surrounding tissue, damaging or killing brain cells.
Unlike the more common ischemic stroke, which results from blockage, hemorrhagic strokes involve bleeding—either within the brain itself or between the brain and skull.
Though less frequent, they are often more deadly: She survived the hemorrhagic stroke but faced months of rehabilitation.
