pons
Medulla's upper neighbor
The pons is a part of the brainstem that connects the cerebrum to the cerebellum and relays signals between different regions of the brain.
It plays a role in regulating sleep, breathing, and facial movement.
The MRI revealed a lesion in the pons.
The name comes from Latin for "bridge," reflecting its function as a neural connector. (Capitalized Pons is a surname.)
