grange

Farm with house

A grange is a farm with its associated buildings, especially a large or impressive country estate.

The term often suggests agricultural property belonging to a substantial household.

In American usage, Grange refers to a fraternal organization for farmers founded in 1867, formally called the National Grange of the Order of Patrons of Husbandry: The local Grange held a harvest supper.

Members meet at a grange hall. (Capitalized Grange often refers to the farmers' organization.)
