exudation
Gradual moisture release
Exudation is the process of oozing or seeping out, or the substance that results from it.
Wounds produce exudation—fluid that seeps through tissue.
Plants exude sap; the hardened sap is also an exudation.
The word applies wherever liquid passes slowly through a surface: the exudation of moisture through basement walls.
Figuratively, someone might radiate a quality: an exudation of confidence.
