trickling

Flowing in drops

Trickling describes liquid moving in a thin, slow stream or in drops rather than flowing freely: Water was trickling down the window.

The word extends to anything arriving or departing gradually in small amounts: Customers trickled in throughout the afternoon, News trickled out over several days.

A trickle is likewise a small, slow flow—of water, information, or people.
