Arab ruler territories
Emirates is the plural of emirate, a territory ruled by an emir—an Arab prince or commander.
The term appears most often in the United Arab Emirates, a federation of seven emirates on the Arabian Peninsula: Dubai is one of the emirates.
Emirates also refers to the Dubai-based airline, one of the world's largest carriers.
