druggie

Habitual substance user

A druggie is an informal, usually disparaging term for someone who habitually uses illegal drugs or is addicted to them.

The word carries connotations of irresponsibility or being strung out: A couple of druggies were hanging around the parking lot.

It's less clinical than "addict" and more dismissive, often used to distance the speaker from the person described.
