daughter cells
Mitosis's twin results
Daughter cells are the cells that result from cell division.
When a parent cell divides, it produces two or more daughter cells, each receiving genetic material from the original.
The term appears throughout biology: The daughter cells were genetically identical to the parent cell.
Despite the name, the term implies no gender—it simply denotes the offspring relationship.
