binary fission
Prokaryotic reproduction method
Binary fission is a form of asexual reproduction in which a single cell divides into two identical daughter cells.
It's the primary method by which bacteria and other single-celled organisms multiply: E. coli can reproduce by binary fission every twenty minutes under ideal conditions.
The process involves DNA replication followed by the cell splitting roughly in half.
