interphase
Between cellular divisions
Interphase is the phase of a cell's life cycle between divisions, when the cell grows, copies its DNA, and carries out normal functions.
It occupies most of the cell cycle—typically 90% or more.
Though once called a "resting phase," interphase is actually when most cellular activity occurs; mitosis is just the dramatic finale.
