Flooring is material used to cover a floor—hardwood, tile, carpet, vinyl, or laminate.
The term covers both the material itself and the finished surface: We're putting in new flooring throughout the house.
Flooring also names the work of installing it.
In boxing or fighting, flooring someone means knocking them to the ground.
