cyborgs

Part machine, part human

Cyborgs are beings that combine organic and mechanical parts—humans enhanced with technological implants or machines given biological components.

The term blends "cybernetic" and "organism." In science fiction, cyborgs range from humans with prosthetic limbs to figures more machine than flesh: The villain was a cyborg with a mechanical arm.

The concept extends to anyone deeply integrated with technology: We're all cyborgs now, dependent on our phones.
