chief ministers

State government heads

Chief ministers are heads of government in subnational political units, particularly in countries with British parliamentary heritage.

In India, each state has a chief minister who leads the elected government, analogous to how the prime minister leads at the national level.

The title appears in similar roles across Pakistan, Malaysia, and other Commonwealth nations: The chief minister addressed the state legislature.
