Penang
Georgetown's island state
Penang is a state in northwestern Malaysia, comprising an island and a coastal strip on the mainland.
The island's capital, George Town, is known for its British colonial architecture and street food.
Penang often refers specifically to the island rather than the entire state: We spent a week in Penang eating our way through the hawker stalls.
