secretariat
Organizational clerical office
A secretariat is the administrative department of a large organization, especially an international body like the United Nations.
It handles day-to-day operations, correspondence, and support functions.
The term also refers to the office or position of secretary in governmental contexts: the party secretariat, the UN Secretariat. (Capitalized Secretariat is the racehorse.)
