chairlifts

Mountain ascent transport

Chairlifts are aerial transport systems that carry passengers in suspended chairs along a cable, typically up and down mountains.

Ski resorts use them to move skiers uphill: We rode the chairlift to the summit.

Chairlifts also appear at scenic attractions for sightseeing.

The singular chairlift can refer to the system or an individual chair.
