cold
Lacking any warmth
Cold is the go-to adjective when for the opposite of hot.
Humans provide the conventional reference point for what is cold, namely a temperature that is too low for comfort.
The common viral infection called a cold has no causal connection with things that are cold, other than people stay indoors when it’s cold outside and infect each other more easily.
As an adverb, cold carries an idea of absoluteness or completeness: he was knocked out cold in the third round.
