snowboarding

Winter slope descent

Snowboarding is the sport of descending snow-covered slopes on a single wide board, with both feet strapped in sideways.

It emerged in the 1960s and reached Olympic status in 1998.

The stance resembles surfing or skateboarding more than skiing: I picked up snowboarding faster than skiing because I'd skateboarded as a kid.
