bevelling

Making angled edges

Bevelling is the act of cutting or shaping an edge at an angle other than ninety degrees.

Carpenters bevel wood edges for joinery, glassworkers bevel mirrors for decorative effect, and machinists bevel metal for welding preparation.

The term applies to any work that creates a sloped rather than square edge.
